Dear everyone,
Happy Easter! I'm astonished at how quickly time has gone by. This
week, I'll have been in the mission for 10 months. I graduated High
Schoola almost 1 year ago. Wow!
We were hoping to see a lot of our investigators come to church
yesterday, but many went to their own churches for the first time
since Christmas. Jamie showed up to church, though, and that made us
really happy! She and her husband are still planning on getting
baptized on May 1st!!!! That's 11 days away!!! :D I hope the service
goes well - I've never had to organize one before, and my companion
hasn't, either. One thing that worries me is that transfers is on the
day of their baptism. Elder Karbach might be leaving this transfer.
He'd be disappointed to leave as soon as they get baptized.
It'll all work out :).
I went on an exchange with an Elder this week. We were parked in the
grocery store parking lot, it was almost dinner time. My window was
rolled down, and someone shouted, "how far are ya'll into your
missions?" We had a nice conversation with this mystery man for about
5 minutes. He told us he was a less active member and he wanted to get
back to church. He mentioned he lived in Alexandria, then when he
moved to Centreville he lost contact with the church. I perked up when
he said he lived in Alexandria. I glanced at his Citibank name tag and
his last name said something like, Rakotononahary. I recognized it! He
was on my last ward's unknown members list! Elder Grow and I had tried
him again and again, with no luck. It was pretty cool. I miss
Alexandria. It's no wonder the missionaries have nicknamed it, 'the
promised land.'
Other than that, not much really happened his week. Same ol'missionary
work. We knocked some doors, talked to a lot of people, ate, slept,
rinse and repeat.
Love you all!
Elder Hansen.
